Three things

1. Not to be vulgar or anything (and its nothing new) but there is a lot of shit in this world.

2. Also, there is a lot of bad chocolate in this world. I read somewhere on the Internet today that 'life is too short to eat bad chocolate'. Sweet.

3. I finished reading De Profundis a few days ago and Oscar Wilde is a genius. I really would recommend it to anyone. In fact, half of it is online here via Project Gutenberg.

Some of my favorite quotes:

“Love is fed by the imagination, by which we become wiser than we know, better than we feel, nobler than we are: by which we can see life as a whole: by which and by which alone we can understand others in their real as in their ideal relation. Only what is fine, and finely conceived, can feed love. But anything will feed hate.”

“You knew what my art was to me, the great primal note by which I had revealed, first myself to myself, and then myself to the world; the great passion of my life; the love to which all other loves were as marsh water to red wine; or the glowworm of the marsh to the magic mirror of the moon.”

"Remember that the sentimentalist is always a cynic at heart. Indeed sentimentality is merely the bankholiday of cynicism. And delightful as cynicism is from its intellectual side, now that it has left the tub for the club, it never can be more than the perfect philosophy for a man who has no soul. It has social value; and to an artist all modes of expression are interesting, but in itself it is a poor affair, for to the true cynic nothing is ever revealed.”

Oh really?

I just updated Paperheart. Getting organized!

Process

I'm working on a series of photos, one of which is now on the main page. Most likely this will mean I have to rearrange some stuff on the website to fit it in. It will be nice to go through things and clean up.

Sweden is growing on me..

Thursday, January 11, 2007

hej

Sweden is cool and even the Internet itself seems to know I'm here. I've only been here for two days but Google has started to redirect me to Google.se and even Myspace has started to show me ads in Swedish. When did the Internet get so smart?

Anyway, so far Malmö is wet, cold, and dark. The sun sets around 3:30 which is a bit disturbing, but soon enough (in the summer) there will be so much light there will be no room for complaining. School starts here Monday and everyone I've met there so far is so nice and wonderful.

Sort of late

A few photos of my solo show at the Cooper Union from last December:

Thank you to everyone who came out!
Special thanks to Jaime for helping me bake 300 cupcakes and get myself together.

2007

In 8 days I leave the US for Sweden.
I do not know when I will return or where I will travel once there.
I haven't packed anything.. yet.

To do:

1. Learn to stop being apologetic.
2. Learn to sing in public.
3. Draw more.
4. Starting writing down my dreams again.

Resolutions, anyone?
