Vito Acconci
Last night Vito Acconci lectured at the Cooper Union.
He talked for 2 hours covering his career from his early performance work to his architecture firm. When he was done an architecture student literally attacked his work for 15 minutes. Not surprisingly, Acconci became very angry in return. In the heat of all of this he addressed the audience and said:
"I like Richard Serra sculptures too but I wish they had a goddamn hot dog stand inside".
Needless to say, I don't think he is ever going to return to Cooper..

I've been doing some research of Acconci. Kind of naive of that student? Like you said, I doubt Acconci will return and I doubt that student will fair any chance in the market after offending someone of Acconci's status. Always good to check out the resume of an artist before questioning his or her art. I just found an interview with Acconci here, www.myartspace.com/blog , that you might like.
